Analysing of the Double Page Spread

For the double page spread I chose to do both page on the same artist because it allowed me to add more information on the person and expand on his musical career. I once again use america captain for the headings and which linked all of the magazine pages together, also the colour throughout the magazine is the same so the viewer can easily see that they are linked together and are from the same magazine.
Most of the images that I used where my own, i chose to add small creatures in the hand on the person in the main image becuase I have seen other pictures of artists that have simular objectives in there hand so dicided to have the same thing to keep up with this trend. I think that that the film strip down the middle of the page worked very well because it divided the page and allowed there to be a brake in the text, and have the readers view something else that allowed the veiwers to see other artist they have the same style of the artist that they are reading about.

So overall the i beleive that the magazine was created very proffesional and the text size approprate for the type of artile that the veiwer is reading. The images are also very high qiulity and and are clear for the reader to see, which allows them to see what they are going to read about.

Analysing of Contents Page

1. I created a magzine contents page that was from the same magazine as the cover page. I overall genre of the magazine is indie pop music so the image on the contents page had to be relevent to genre of music. so i chose to have a image of two band member sitting against a blank wall look like they have nothing to do, this would represent the style of indie. Also the clothing that they are wearing suggests that they are indie and it shows off the style of the magazine. I think this image is very strong because it shows what the band is like, showing that they are laid back and chilled out about there new ablum, suggesting the type of songs that are going to be on there. The black and white style of the image also shows the veiwers that they are laid back possibly like the viewers when they are reading that magazine. And the coloured areas on the image suggest that they have I bright future and the green shows that they are strong and willing to work for there success even though they are chilled and in the image itself. 

 the font that i used was captain america this allowed the cover and contents page to be links so the view can see that they are suppost to be for the same magazine. After getting the talking to the proffesional magazine creator it allowed me to make changes to the contents which made it look a lot busier and it looked like there was a lot of interesting information that can be read in the magazine. By using the feature bar it allowed me to use the space wisely and have lots of different features pointed out across the contents page. I think that this worked very well because it made the magazine seem a lot bigger because of the number of pages stated on the contents page.

Also the contents page title was in america captain allowing the two areas to be jointed (cover and contents page). so it think overall that the construstion and finished product was done to a professional standard and i am very happy with the contents page and its layout. 

Evaluation of my Magazine

In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

 My media magazine has use the same technique that other music magazine have used in their production, I have taken so of the ideas for my magazine from the magazine NME, I chose to use this music magazine as a influence because it was similar to the genre of my magazine. I also look at other magazines and used the similar images to there, for example most of the magazine covers had people look directly into the lens of the camera and I chose to use the same technique but have one of the people on the cover of my magazine looking away, so it drew the audience eye to my magazine and there was something different on the cover, to make mine stand out from others.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

My magazine focuses on the teenage generation, by having young people thought the magazine the younger generation can relate to the people in the magazine and can look up to the artists in the magazine the be inspired by them. The genre of this magazine is Indie so the clothing and backgrounds of the magazines images can represent this. Also the clothing that the people in the images can influence the social group’s style and persuade there clothing chose,  

What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The company that might distribute my magazine would be at first an online magazine distributor so people would sign up to get the magazine each month, this would be a good idea a first to allow the market to get used to my product and see if they will sell well. Once they are sell well then they could be distrusted in stores across the UK this would allow the magazine reputation to spread quickly and cause my magazine product to grow. The magazine distributor that I would use first would be for example the online store “MusicMags” because they only do an online store, then I would distribute for a large company like “Seymour” who would distribute all across Britain.

Who would be the audience for your media product and why?

 The audience of the magazine would be aged between 15-27 because they all have an interest in the latest music and what to keep up with fashion and know about the latest songs that are trendy. The magazine would work best if it was monthly because they would want to find out the new songs for the month to come and what are the new stars to arise from the industry.

How did you attract/address your audience?

The main person in the image on the cover looks directly into the camera lens to draw the eye of the audience and get there attention. I also made my magazine different to others by having the title smaller that the main articles title, this would encourage the audience to look at the magazine if they are interested in the main heading of the magazine.  

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

The technology that I used for this magazine was Photoshop, it is very well developed and could be used for a professional magazine because all of the features are very easy to use and they all work well to help improve the product that you are creating. The technology that we have in this era is very high quality and people can create professional standard products for their home computers with widely used products.  

Look back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

The completing the project I have learnt how to edit an image to a professional standard and with the help of the professional magazine editor how to arrange a magazine so it stands out from others and the audience is attracted to  my magazine over other magazines. I have also learnt that it is good to keep the fonts similar throughout the magazine so the audience can clearly see that it is from the same magazine and it has been well main and produced.   

Analysing the cover of my magazine

The font that I chose to use for the cover was American Captain. It allowed me to have a large clear title and make it easy for the audience to recognise the magazine on a shelf. All the other text on this page was American Captain, I chose to have it the same as the title because it was clear and easy to read when it was smaller as well, this allowed me to make the cover look professional, and have it arranged in a way that allowed the images to be seen and the text well placed.

By using the banners at the top of the page it allowed me to add another level to the cover, this filled the space at the top of the page and by using the black background it enhanced the text, making it clear and allowing in to standout against the rest of the page.  

 I added an effect to the REE-MO text because it wanted it to stand out and be one of the main attractions on the cover. I think that it work well and the slight change of colour made it become bold and stand out from the other text. The background text showed some of the main articles inside the magazine, the placement of the text was well done because it doesn’t cover any of the important features in the images and fills the blank spaces in the background.

The images that I used to create this cover where my own. The colours is all three photos are crisp and bold, making some of the colours standout; the image in the foreground has been edited out of another image and placed into this one. I also edited the colours in this picture so they would match with the other colours on the page, this allowed me to use the pictures knowing that it would work in the area that I placed it. Also by having the artist on the cover looking down the camera lens in would draw the attention of the audience and make them what to look at the magazine.

The middle image, I used this image because it shows that this is a music magazine because of the instrument over the persons shoulder. And by having the same background with all the pictures it allows the pictures to blend and the editing that I have done make it look like they are all the same picture.  

And the background image of the person gives some depth to the image and shows a professional quality to the magazine. Also by having the person looking away there isn’t such a focus on all the character in the picture, and the audience are more likely to look at the other people in the pictures and what to read about them.
